I want to start drawing tribal tattoo designs..?
Already posted a question on this, but anyway, I want to start drawing them up. I’m not the best drawer in the world, and although I do like tribal designs I think it’s just easier for me to start drawing them anyway..
I’d also like to be able to design tattoos that incorporate other things, is there anything you suggest? For example I know flowers go well with tribal designs, is there other images or styles I could possible practice?
Cheers
Julie, I’m just a fan of tattoos and I’d like to be able to design them, whether I train to be an artist in the future is another question. And no not to have myself, I don’t think I’ll do anything with them to be honest, just interested!
I don’t understand your question. Why do you want to draw them? To get tattooed on yourself?
edit: If you are going to design tattoos just to design them you should probably attempt to establish a relationship with a tattoo artist to guide you. I say this because creating great tattoo art is not really the same as creating a really great drawing. Unless you are a tattoo artist or have a lot of experience getting tattooed you don’t really have any way of knowing what will translate well to a tattoo and what won’t. And you’d probably be surprised at what you can and cannot do when designing a tattoo, what will and won’t work.
It is sort of an odd situation because you don’t often meet people who want to design tattoos but don’t want to get any themselves. Interesting.
Sites like BMEzine.com have user galleries where people post photos of their tattoos. There are sites that have free flash for people to look for. But again, if you don’t have experience with tattoos personally it will be harder for you to judge which tattoos and flash are good.
Good luck!
I’ve seen tribal animal designs – eagles, tiger, butterfly, etc.
